Privacy policy

What Daily XI stores, what it does not, and how to get rid of it.

Last updated 23 September 2026

The short version. There are no accounts and no passwords. Daily XI does not ask for your email address and does not have one on file. The only personal thing it can hold is a display name, and only if you choose to type one in.

What is stored in your browser

Daily XI keeps a small amount of information in your own browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device unless a section below says otherwise:

Clearing your browser data for this site removes all of it. You will lose your streaks and your leaderboard identity, and nothing else.

The leaderboard

Joining the leaderboard is optional. If you join, you choose a display name, and that name plus your scores are stored on a database hosted by Supabase. No email address is requested or kept. Pick a name that does not identify you if you would rather stay anonymous. To have your name and scores deleted, email me.

Counting how many people play

Whether or not you join the leaderboard, finishing a puzzle records an anonymous row on the same database: the random device identifier described above, which game, which day’s puzzle, and your score. There is no name, email or IP address attached, and it cannot be traced back to you.

Analytics

Two services measure how the site is used:

Other services the pages talk to

Loading Daily XI fetches files from a handful of outside providers, each of which will see your IP address as a normal part of serving a web page: Google Fonts for typefaces, flagcdn.com for country flags, and jsDelivr for one software library. Links to Ko-fi and Instagram take you to those sites, which have their own policies.

Advertising

Daily XI does not currently show adverts. If that changes, this page will be updated first, and it will say which advertising provider is used and how to opt out of personalised advertising. Any advertising partner would set its own cookies under its own policy.

Children

Daily XI is a general-audience football quiz and is not directed at children under 13. No age is collected. If a display name belonging to a child has been submitted and you would like it removed, email me and it will be deleted.

Your rights

Because almost nothing is collected, most requests are simple. You can clear everything held in your browser yourself at any time. For the display name and scores held on the leaderboard, email the address on the contact page and they will be deleted. If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to access, correct or erase data held about you, and to complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes the date at the top will change with it. Daily XI is run from the United Kingdom.
